The JCF Team

Trustees

James Caan, Trustee

James Caan is the founder of the JCF. He started the foundation privately, after having sold his first company, during his year in "retirement." After having been a successful businessman for over 20 years, whilst having been involved with a number of charities throughout the years, James wanted to be more proactive and set up his own initiatives in areas close to his heart. His first project through the foundation was to build a school in his home town of Lahore, Pakistan, in his father's name, in recognition of the inadequate education offered in Pakistan. Since building the school, James has worked with a number of different initiatives encompassing causes such as entrepreneurship, homelessness, education and disaster relief.

Hanah Caan, Trustee

Hanah joined the board of trustees in 2010, after having spent a year working within Hamilton Bradshaw, James' private equity firm. During her experience as a Management Trainee, she was exposed to James' personal philanthropic work, and felt that the foundation was an incredible platform to do more for society. Since being appointed a Trustee, Hanah re-launched the foundation publicly, and has been the key driver behind the headline "Build A Village" campaign, which builds villages in the affected regions of Pakistan that were hit by the floods in 2010. Hanah serves as an active member of the board, developing the foundation into a medium through which people, schools and institutions can donate in a transparent, credible, collaborative and interactive manner. Hanah is also laying the groundwork for a new programme on Social Enterprise for the end of 2011.

Deepak Jalan, Trustee

Deepak is the Chief Investment Officer of Hamilton Bradshaw, and is co-founder of the James Caan Foundation. Amongst being James' right-hand man in the private equity firm, he is never found too far away in any initiative James takes on, adding significant expertise in structure, accounting, management and returns, be it from a philanthropic or profitability perspective.
